Dominion Flour Mill

Dominion Flour Mill Kent Street, Maryborough, ca. 1930.
The Dominion Flour Mill (Local Heritage Register Entry 153) was the most northerly flour mill in Australia when it was built in the 1890s for the Maryborough Milling Company (Trove). In October 1892, this mill, owned by Messrs Creaser and Emmet (Trove), was opened in Kent Street. Local farmers were encouraged to grow wheat to supply the mill (Trove). The Co-operative Milling Association bought the mill on 1 March 1938 and the mill ceased operation in 1977 (Trove).It was known for selling the Silver Spray brand flour (Trove). After closure it was turned into a sawmill by Fairlie and Sons before becoming a second-hand warehouse called Bower Bird House.
